JEDDAH: Jordan's King Abdallah arrived in Jeddah on Sunday to perform umrah. He was received by Makkah Gov. Prince Khaled Al-Faisal at the King Abdul Aziz International Airport.
King Abdallah, who arrived here in his ihram, traveled to Makkah to perform the pilgrimage, a pious act during the holy month of Ramadan.
He was accompanied by Prince Abdulaziz bin Abdullah, adviser to Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah, Saudi Press Agency reported.
In Amman, Jordan Foreign Minister Nasser Judeh expressed hope on Sunday that direct Palestinian-Israeli peace talks due to resume in the United States next month would succeed and take less than a year.
King Abdallah and Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak, whose countries have peace deals with Israel, will join the talks.
